The City of Franklin is a beautiful, mature suburb located in Milwaukee County and just 10 miles of downtown Milwaukee and 80 miles north of downtown Chicago. Franklin was named “Top 10 Overall Micro American City of the Future” by Foreign Direct Investment Magazine in May 2015. It was also named as “American Star” by a subsidiary of Financial Times for its economic potential.Money Magazine ranked the City of Franklin among the top 100 cities to live in America due to great job opportunities, top-notch schools, safe streets, economic strength, and affordability.
The city was named after Benjamin Franklin and was formed from the Town of Kinnickinnic in Wisconsin’s Territorial Legislature in the year of 1838. Original town representatives battled annexation to the City of Milwaukee. They even went missing for weeks at a time until the City charter came to town from Madison in 1956. When it became obvious that the plan was to incorporate and renew the town to a city in 1956, the town officials even tried to hide the summons server in an attempt to put a stop to the plan.Today Franklin is a beautiful city with great schools, parks, healthcare and many local amenities.
Families enjoy Franklin’s great public schools, which received an 8 out of 10 on greatschools.org. There are five Elementary Schools, one Middle School, and one High School. There are also three private schools in the City of Franklin.Franklin City Parks span over 173 acres of the city, including 7 miles of natural bike trails, and 15 facilities for recreational activities which include tennis courts, playgrounds, baseball fields, volleyball courts, and many buildings to rent out.There are many places to grab a bite to eat in Franklin. There is everything from Japanese, Chinese, fine dining, or a good ole’ burger and fries. For a great locally owned sports bar and grill there is The Point After Pub & Grille which is family-friendly full service restaurant that offers a good variety of delicious menu items as well as a minor-league menu for the kids. There are 22 flat screen televisions throughout the restaurant so you can catch the big game no matter where you are sitting.St. Martins Fair takes place every first Monday of the month and then Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend. This fair brings vendors who sell everything from clothing, shoes, household items, pet supplies, sport equipment, gift items, furniture, antiques, fresh fruits and veggies, hot food and much more. During Labor Day weekend, special music groups preform for the crowds.For good music and lots of fun the Franklin Park Concerts, Inc holds a Summer Concert Series at Lions Legend Park Band Shell that is FREE for anyone to attend.Franklin truly is a beautiful city with a great sense of community and lots to do and see.
